NATUREFIN Partner Workshop and Study Visit in Heinola

From 9 to 11 June 2026, NATUREFIN partners met in Heinola, Finland, for a three-day programme of workshops, peer learning and study visits. Hosted by the City of Heinola, the meeting focused on how regional and local authorities can better integrate biodiversity into policy implementation, public investment and regional development.

A key element of the programme was the workshop on operationalising the Sustainable Finance Navigator, led by Dr Helena Naffa from the Sustainable Finance Research Centre. Partners reviewed the main barriers to financing biodiversity and nature-positive development and identified practical policy mechanisms that could support the improvement of their regional policy instruments.

The study visits presented local examples from sustainable forestry, nature-based tourism, municipal forest management and cultural heritage. Together with the peer learning activities, these experiences helped partners explore how environmental objectives can be translated into practical, place-based actions supporting resilient and nature-positive regional development.

Europe, Let's Coorerate Event

We attended the Interreg Europe event in Krakow, Poland, for lead advisory partner. We had an opportunity to network with other projects. The event was useful to prepare us for leading the NATUREFIN project.
